FLASHBACK FRIDAY!!!!!!
Porter with his nurse.
I remember when Carey and I took the tour of the hospital. After the tour, they asked us if' we'd like to tour the NICU. We said sure. I wanted Carey and I to be prepared. I had seen photos of babies in the NICU but I wanted Carey to see. I am so glad we went.
After the kids were born, it was about 9 hours before I could really go see the kids. Carey tore off to the NICU to see them and witness their measurements and their APGAR scoring. He came back to me with a full report. Carey got me in the wheelchair the morning after and we rolled up to the 8th floor I was staying on the 7th and I remember thinking, "I'm sleeping right below my kids every night." We got to the window and you had to announce who you were and flash your wrist bands. I'm glad the security was so good. Once you got past the big double doors, you had to sign in, make a left and wash your hands using a special wash and clean under your fingernails with this little plastic tool. Rinse and you're on your way. All the nurses would say "Hey, it's the Best parents."
You couldn't help notice the other little babies in the other bays. I knew my kids were healthy, but I was also aware there were some very sick babies and they were struggling to survive. So heartbreaking. You had this feeling of guilt when you saw other moms whose kids were sick.
So your heart is just beating so hard cause you know you're getting ready to see your children. It was like Christmas every morning and it still is. Carey placed me close to Porter's bed. He was lying on his little warmer and he has his little legs all laid out. I touched him on the arm. My sweet precious man. I was in love. I stared at him and then went over to Abigail. There's my beautiful daughter. Laying peacefully. She had some wires like her brother and of course that stupid IV. Ouch. I touched her little face. I remember she was sooo tiny. She was pink and you could see her ribs. I held them for a few minutes. I could only stay for a moment cause of my incision. But it was ok. I knew they were safe and they needed to rest. They used up calories just being held. I still cannot say enough about Seton.

Carey looking over Abigail. All those wires. They look scary but they became normal to us.

Abigail's hand on mom's hand. It was so fun to touch them. Notice how their skin is transparent.

Miss Abigail in her isolette.
Ok people, I've got work to do in here. Leave me alone. I'm trying to gain some weight and grow some hairs!
