The time we got drenched

We decided to pack up a picnic and head down to the park. We got to the baseball field and noticed that the sprinklers were on. As we parked, they went off. So we spread our blanket out and were eating our sandwiches....it was starting to get hot. At that moment the sprinkler head popped up right in front of us and drenched us. I told the kids to run and I got the blanket all folded up and ran behind them. We were soaked.
We found a spot away from the sprinklers and sat our stuff back down. I got the kites out and we flew them for a bit. After that we headed to the playground equipment and played there for a bit. About 30 minutes later our friends from school showed up....then more showed up. That's when the sprinklers in the park came on and the kids got to play in the sprinklers this time. Everyone was soaked. Porter had the best time playing with the sprinkler heads and spraying everyone. We dried off a bit by riding our scooters.

Giving CapMetro Our Money

We might be keeping CapMetro afloat. We have ridden the rail about 7 times now. Kids are free, so why not. I've started making them carry their own stuff in their backpacks. They can take any 3 items (no stuffed animals) with them. My days of being a pack mule are o.v.e.r.

Waiting on the train like good boys and girls

We found the fire station downtown. The captain told me that the hotels are wanting the station to move because when they do a run it wakes up the residents. I bet they'll want them when their hotel is on fire. The fire station has been there longer.

Porter could not be happier

Cheers!

The kids know about beer and what beer bottles look like. They decided that their bubble bottles looked like beer bottles.

Free day

Free days are the best. No real plans, great weather and big parks. When you go out to the park, you pass Taco Bueno. So we got burritos, chips and dip and had lunch at the park.

Buddy loved the lizard and the snake. We've been to this park before, but this is the first time he really noticed them.

Spring is here!

The kids and I loaded up and headed to Lowe's while dad mowed the yard. Abigail and Porter picked out the purple pansies and I picked out the pink geraniums.

They also got shovels and gardening cushions. Porter got Queen and Abigail got Disney Princess.

They did really good and helped me water afterward

Then we went to Andrew and Lilia's house to have dinner. Fun day and evening.

Quiet Days

Some of the best days are spent with the television OFF and out amongst nature. Grammie, Papa, Carey and I took the kids fishing up at the creek in their neighborhood

Barbie pole and Barbie tackle box. Ready!

How can you not think of the Andy Griffith show when you see this picture?

Must wear pearls to fish

Across the golf cart trail and across the big bridge

Down the trail and we made it

When Carey cut the worm Abigail said, "That's gonna hurrrt!"

After we fished the kids explored and found acorns and leaves and put them in their tackle box.

Abigail loves Fifi her little pink dog.

Porter loves Abigail. Now if that isn't sweet.

Being Sick Is No Fun

Bless his heart.
We got up on a Saturday and Porter threw up a bit. We thought maybe he just choked or it was some weird fluke. But then he got sick again. He threw up all day and some that evening. we gave him a small bucket and he used that bucket every time without missing. By Sunday morning we thought he was ok. He was playing in his room for a bit then went and got in his chair and he went down hill fast. By late in the afternoon on Sunday he started running a fever. So I took him to Urgent Care where his temp was 102.2. The doctor also gave him an IV. She said he was dehydrated. Poor guy. He also got a shot to help with the vomiting. Worked like a charm. They had to poke him twice on one arm and once on the other to get the IV started, but he was such a brave little guy. I know that hurts when someone sticks an IV in your vein. He whimpered through the whole IV but did really well when they gave him tons of stickers and a cool blue bandage on his arm. (He finally took that off after 8 days) The nurses kept saying what a beautiful boy he was. well, OF COURSE!
He talked my leg off on the way home. He pointed at all the lights and talked about Christmas. We got him home and gave him a bath and clean jammies and he went straight to sleep. He was slow to recover but did well on day 3 after the urgent care visit.

Feeling like if he talked he would throw up. Just such a sad face.
Then Abigail got it, but not as bad. Just a little upset tummy and some light vomiting. She recovered quickly.

Fun with Grammie and Papa

First we got to eat at the cafe on the golf course. The big window kept the kids entertained.

Then we ran around the wide open space. A favorite.

I love the way the kids run. And they are getting fast too!

Then we came back and colored and collected sticks

Abigail drawing in her notebook

Abbey's stick collection

Porter got lots of sticks also

Porter's collection

Abigail found a heart leaf

Then she collected rocks in the tub she was given her first bath.

We showed her the picture of Carey giving her a bubble in the tub and she said "That's not me" just as casual as could be. Then I told her it was. I guess she accepted the fact that it really was her because she didn't say much after that.
