Reading pays off

I have the kids involved in the reading program at the library but they don't know it. A few weeks ago, I signed them up and we made little tags with their names on it. We got to move the little tags when the kids reached 10 hours of reading to the "10 Hours" category. The kids got a library t-shirt, a certificate signed by the librarian (Marian, lol) and the Guv'nah Rick Perry. They also received a coupon for a free ice cream at Dairy Queen. So we took them to the 80's DQ. And I do mean 80's. Whew do they need to update that place.

Anyway the kids loved their ice cream of course. The next step is 15 hours, bringing us to a total of 25 hours for summer reading.

At the counter. It's all about them.

Water Park

We met up with Tom and Liesl and their kids and headed to the splash park in Pflugerville. It is really nice and the kids LOVED it.

Abigail on the slide. She went down this about 100 times.

Porter could not get enough of this slide. He kept wanting me to take him down it. We went about 4 times.

Library time

The kids love our library. We usually go about once a week. Porter thinks that we just go in and he gets a DVD and we leave. He looks through the selection, finds one and then say "Go home. Watch TB" So funny! We stay for a bit and I tell him I'll hold onto it for him. He is also getting really good at helping Mommy checkout books. He likes to hold the little scanner gun that makes the beeps.

Arriving with our Doctor bag. (Full of toys)

See the dinos?

AWwww, a chicken foot for mom.

I was telling Abigail that it was time to go inside. She kept holding her hand out and telling me, "Wait Mommy!" I think she told me off.

We finally made it inside the library.

Playdate at Andrew's

The kids are really starting to love seeing their friends. They ask "Go see friends?" So cute. The kids and Andrew have fun together. Porter loved getting in Andrew's bed and camping out. Andrew and Porter are fast friends.

My precious girl. Sometimes when Carey and I look at pics we just melt.

Porter made a girl friend. She was adorable and so petite.

Boys messing up the room. Porter loves being around his friends.

Cousin Kyler's Birthday Party

The cousins have a huge backyard filled with all kinds of stuff to keep you busy on a hot summer's day.

Abbey and Porter loves swimming with dad

Porter went under and loved it. Just like a little fishy.

Abigail learned how to blow bubbles.

Here Porter is on the slip n slide.

Abigail having fun on the slip n slide

Time for some jumping with the birthday boy. (Kyler is the blonde) You don't see much of a 7 year old birthday boy. They are on the move.

Bubby on the trampoline. He just giggles these really deep belly laughs. It wears him out!

Time for some relaxation on the hammock.

Bubby getting his first real taste of the big slide. It's a fast one.

I just love this little pic. Bubby with his hands on his hips.

He climbed up the water slide all by himself. Not an easy feat for a 3 year old.

Now the trick is getting him to come down.

And he thought it was so funny that he sprayed me with the water gun.

We came in for cake and "cream" as Porter calls it. Here he is playing with Kyler's bug catcher.
