I am so glad that I was introduced to ECI (Early Childhood Intervention). The first encounter I had with them was when they contacted me after the babies were born. They followed up with me on feeding, eye sight and hearing due to the babies prematurity. At that time I didn't have any concerns. Abigail's eye check turned out ok and both kids' hearing seemed good.
We started to notice a bit of a delay in Porter's speech. Everything was "buh". We let it go for a few more weeks then I decided to call ECI. Porter has been working with the team for almost a year now (I think that's how long it' s been)
He has progressed and is now on to 3-word sentences. Sissy helps him quite a bit. She doesn't talk for him, he just copies what she says.
Overall Porter's speech is good. Since Porter didn't talk all that much in the assessment (room full of awesome toys, would you?), I am going to video tape him this weekend when he is around his cousins and at an Easter Egg hunt. I'll then send that in to the team.
You've come so far Bubsy. We are proud of you!!!!
Thanks to our Speech Therapist Wendy Cole!!
